SOLD REFINISHED 48" Nelson Platform Slat Bench in ebony!

As first described in my September 12 post,

this slat bench in ebonized wood, originally

designed in 1948 by George Nelson for Herman

Miller, is the ultimate iconic multipurpose

display and resting place.  It is one of the best

known images of mid century modernism.

Measuring a handy 48" x 18" x 14" H, the

bench/table was originally meant to support

heavy storage pieces, making it functional as

well as beautiful.  Some minor touch-up is

included if you want:  the black finish is

chipped off in areas, mostly on the one leg.  And

there is a small piece of chipped veneer on one

corner of the seat frame.  Not a big deal to get it

fixed.

Signed.  Ca 1980's.                                     $725.

September 12, 2012

Just a heads up that you can find some of my collection also on Etsy, under the names "Huntartandantiques" and "salyarcht."  My plan is to showcase on Etsy some of the smaller vintage pieces that have previously only been shown as a larger shelf grouping.

Eames Shell Chairs - now 3!

Yellow, Parchment (White) & Orange - 3

wonderful vintage, ergonomic, early 50's

Eames Fiberglass Shell Side Chairs with

original black legs, swivel feet & H-base by

Herman Miller.  Some of the original

stickers are left on the bottoms, & there is

the famous Herman Miller stamped logo

stamped on the Parchment-colored one because

it was one of the 3 original colors.

(See that one listed separately also, in a

May post.)

All 3 have age-appropriate

patina & some wear marks.  The photo

colors are a bit off - the orange is more

orange & less red, the yellow much deeper(BOTH SOLD)

& the white, creamier, as shown in the side view.  Ca 1950.

                                                                                       Three (3)     $750.

Sept. 6, 2012 - Looking back at the long, hot summer

After an extended trip from Chicago to even more hot & humid Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for dental work (!), I am back with fresh ideas & an increased sense of thankfulness for how we are all fighting to save our world as we know it.

While there, I met many beautiful new friends, especially Katherine & her exciting new folk art collection called Color Pod .  With her permission, I will be creating my own new local designs.  I can also market hers through my shop.

Stay tuned for other new finds that I will be posting this week!
